Training vs Exercising

Staying in shape is hard enough, let me share with you why you should be training and not exercising.

While both are formalized, structured forms of movement with a definitive goal, there are two important differentiators that separate training from exercise:

TEAMWORK

At Rebl, we make your exercise collaborative and social. We work together in class and on many occasions, hang out for a chat afterward. Teamwork creates meaningful relationships and these bonds make adherence to exercise easier on the hard days because you have teammates that are happy to carry you on the days you are struggling.

FUN

No one turns up for soccer practice with the intention of losing weight. They come to find a flow state, to take their mind off of their day-to-day, learn and challenge themselves. Their successes and gratification are immediate. When we show up at the gym with the intention of losing weight and burning calories to feel better in the future, success seems long-term, but no acute success or gratification makes exercise hard to adhere to.

I’m not trying to fool you into believing that both methodologies will not lead you to the same end goal when combined with discipline and tenacity. What I am here to tell you is that when you choose to train, your journey will be easier. It will be filled with laughs, daily successes, and the creation of meaningful bonds. Holistic health is more than a more favorable body composition - it is expressing yourself physically in a place of safety shared with your teammates.
